Belt Positioning Boosters

• Belt-Positioning Booster Seats provide essential protection for children who have outgrown a car seat with a harness system and are mature enough to sit properly in a vehicle lap/shoulder belt.  However, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping children in a harness system as long as it still fits by height and weight, so it is best not to move to a booster too soon. Once a child is the appropriate age and size, a booster should continue to be used until the child properly fits the adult seat belts. This usually happens at about 57 inches tall.Belt-Positioning Boosters MUST be used with the vehicle lap and shoulder belt (never a lap-only belt). Remember to always buckle the seat belt around the booster, even when the child is not in it. Booster seats cannot be used on airplanes. Belt-Positioning Boosters come in two types:  High-Back boosters and No-Back boosters.

High-Backed Belt Positioning Boosters

• High-Back Belt-Positioning Boosters provide head support, which is especially important in vehicles without headrests.  For children who nap while riding, high-back boosters also provide stability to help keep them safely positioned in the seatbelt system.
