As soon as my second baby arrived in the world, I was on the hunt for the perfect double stroller!
Well, I didn't limit my search to specifically double strollers, but I needed something that both my toddler and infant could use at the same time without giving me too much hassle.
Understandably, I reached out for one of the top single to double stroller designs you can find in the market - the Cybex Gazelle S!
I tested a lot of strollers and car seats in this short time of being a parent so that you will hear all about my first-time impressions of this model.
I hope you will find the Cybex Gazelle S Stroller review helpful, and if anything, decide if this stroller is your perfect match or not.
Let's see if this puppy is actually worth the high-price point!
The Cybex Gazelle S is a single to a double stroller that is great for parents of two children close in age.
It has up to 24 car seat configurations which will come in handy if you decide to add the second seat.
As one of the unique items, the Cybex Gazelle S stroller has an additional shopping basket so you can bring your pet along during the daily strolls around the neighborhood.
The overall design is great for everyday walks; however, it can be challenging to steer once you add the second seat.
1. Maneuverability: 4/5
The stroller is easy to maneuver in double stroller mode, but it does struggle with a single seat. It can be awkward to steer, especially in narrow streets and curbs.
Plus, it has a wider frame, so it's not the best for public transportations.
2. Ease Of Use: 5/5
Cybex Gazelle comes with detailed instructions and can be put together in under 10 minutes.
Once assembled, the stroller has easy commands such as recline lever, adjustable handlebar, and extendable canopy.
3. Car Seat Compatibility: 5/5
It has excellent car seat compatibility with one of the most popular infant car seat brands. However, it requires car seat adapters for most of them.
It already comes with an adapter for the Cybex infant seat and is compatible with Maxi-Cosi, Clek, and Nuna Pipa.
4. Comfort: 5/5
The comfort is superior. The stroller seat is nicely padded and even includes an adjustable leg rest for growing toddlers.
Price: Under $800
- Removable shopping basket
- Multiple seating configurations
- Comfortable
- Easy conversion from single to double
- Maneuverability in single stroller seat mode
- Lack of accessories

Cybex Gazelle S Stroller - A Quick Sneak Peek & First Impressions
Upon opening the package that it came in, I could not help but notice how big this thing was!
The Cybex Gazelle S stroller measures 41.3 x 25.4 x 43.1 inches and is declared a city stroller.
Now, I can't argue with that.
For our city walks, this stroller worked wonderfully, although it was a bit hard pushing it with two car seats.
Nonetheless, it has a wider stroller frame than most would expect, so you got my surprise when I first saw it.
So would I recommend it for city walks?
Well, yes, but you have to be aware of the dimension of the frame and the fact that it won't fit through every shop door.
Now, it would be only fair if I mentioned what the box contained, so you know what you will be getting:
- The package included a lie-flat car seat with a rain cover which is a must-have if you live in humid areas.
- I got the detachable shopping basket that I very much use and love today!
- You will get sliding adapters to control and adjust the height and other seat configurations.
These adapters will help you quickly attach another car seat to the stroller or even a bassinet.
But since the stroller's seat is in a lie-flat position, you probably won't need to purchase a bassinet.
The second car seat is purchased separately if you want to use the stroller as a double pushchair right away.
The whole process of putting the stroller together was easy.
Okay, I admit my husband did help me out a bit, but the instruction manual is detailed and even has color-coded seating configurations, which will help you later.
Oh, and it has an excellent chassis suspension!
The wheels felt so sturdy and had suspension, which I was mostly looking forward to during my city strolls.
The stroller is on the bulky and heavy side as it weighs 25 pounds but considering it has to carry two car seats and even has a standing platform, the heavy-duty built is a must.
Overall, my first impressions were over the top!
After testing it out for quite some while, here is my experience with the Cybex Gazelle S stroller!
1. Sleek & Stylish
The double stroller attracted me first with its design. To say I get compliments every time I take it out is an understatement!
Cybex Gazelle S has a beautiful "sporty" look, and it's available in four color designs.
Its sleek fabric looks so stylish!
It has an excellent aluminum frame that, again, is not too heavy, but once you add the car seats and the babies, you will feel the weight for sure.
2. Foldability
Cybex Gazelle S did not shine when it came to foldability.
Sure, it's manageable and relatively easy, but when it comes to situations where you are in haste and need to get in the car, out the door, or even enter the store, a problem arises.
It does have a compact fold, but it took me around 50 tries to get the stroller to fold fast!
Overcoming the folding mechanism was also not a piece of cake.
However, I did like one thing.
The stroller can be folded with either one seat or two in!
So even with a one-car seat in there, it's compact enough to fit in the trunk of our car.
Logically, it takes up a significant amount of boot room if you have two car seats folded in, so I would not advise you to do that if you need to fit something else in the trunk.
3. Storage Options
One of the special features that the Cybex Gazelle S stroller offers is double storage!
As you can see, there is a spacious storage basket underneath the seat that can hold up to 30 pounds or less.
I can always fit so much stuff in there if I grocery shop with my little one.
However, if you are using the lower adapter position, you might not have that much shopping space as you would like.
I mentioned double storage, right?
Well, this stroller includes an extra shopping basket you can put right below the handle, and it has a weight capacity of at least 20 pounds, give or take.
Combined, both shopping basket units can hold up to 50 pounds of weight which proved to be magnificent for longer walks.
Plus, you can keep the stuff you always need nearby there!
I have a bad back, so it was helpful to have something that does not require me to reach below the seat.
The extra storage basket also includes a carry handle, so if you use it strictly for groceries, you can easily take it off and carry it into the house.
What's the main drawback?
The fact is that you can only use the additional shopping basket if you use the single pram mode.
I know, I know, two kids equal way more stuff for the road, but you will have to take the lower position storage basket in this case.
4. Canopy & Sun Protection
For parents who live in sunny areas, you will love the quality and the size of the canopy.
However, I never leave the house without applying a thick layer of SPF, so why would my baby be the victim of hazardous sun rays?
The canopy comes with a UPF 50, protecting the little ones from dangerous UV rays.
The size is pretty huge, but if you want a bit more coverage, you can extend the canopy with the zip extension.
The material is well made, and for parents who like to check on their kids constantly, there is a mesh window on top!
It serves excellent ventilation as well for peek-a-boos!
5. Adjustable Handlebar
Whenever there is an adjustable handlebar in the stroller, it immediately earns my respect!
Unfortunately, I am 5.4 feet, while my husband is 6.2 feet!
Do you see my problem? We could not manage the same stroller even if we wanted to.
Luckily, this one comes with an adjustable handlebar, and it moves from 100 cm to 110cm.
Even if you think this is not that much of a difference, trust me, it's a lifesaver if you are taking turns with your partner!
There is a button on the side of the handlebar, so it's pretty easy adjusting its height.
In addition, the handle is covered with leatherette, so it has an excellent firm grip for both of you.
6. Brakes & Wheels
Let's start with the wheels first.
The Cybex Gazelle S has all-suspension wheels that are great for those lightly walked on bumpy roads.
Unfortunately, our neighborhood street has a few bumps and unpaved parts, so I needed a stroller with smooth wheels.
Unfortunately, when I assembled the stroller, I noticed the front wheels were smaller than the rear wheels.
But because of that, it's super easy to maneuver the stroller unless you are in a dual-mode, but we will get to this part.
On the right rear wheel, you will see a brake pedal. It's so simple to use! You flick it, and the stroller stops!
I am used to foot brakes, but I'm not sure if everyone will like them.
Some find them troublesome as there is a chance you can accidentally break and suddenly stop the stroller.
If you are familiar with hand brakes, you might need some time getting used to them.
But there is one thing that will make you love this brake system!
It has a handy color-coded indicator. Green is for when the brake is off, and red is for the activated brake.
7. Car Seat Compatibility
Cybex is compatible with many car seats on the market like any other stroller, but you will need car seat adapters for most of them.
Although I would wish it had a lower price point, the Cybex Cloud Q is one of the best Cybex infant car seats you can get for this stroller.
Nonetheless, you will get an adapter with the stroller, which you can use for Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, and Clek car seats.
What astonished me the most is that this is the only stroller seat your baby can safely nap in without needing a bassinet or a carrycot.
Now, let's see what some of the other compatible car seats for this stroller are!
With the included adapter:
- Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30, Mico 30 and Mico Max Plus
- Cybex Aton and Cloud Q series
- Nuna PIPA, PIPA Lite, PIPA Lite LX, PIPA RX and PIPA Lite R
With separately purchased car seat adapters:
- Graco SnugRide, SnugRide SnugLock
- Chicco KeyFit 30
- Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Nido, Agio.
As you can see, car seat compatibility is pretty good in most cases.
8. Car Seat Configurations
Recline & Weight Capacity
We have arrived at the unique feature and the biggest selling point of this double stroller!
But before I discuss all the seat possibilities, I want to discuss the recline.
By far, Cybex has the best deep recline seat, which you can adjust with the recline lever.
My baby is a big opponent to sleeping in his stroller! Something about the comfort, I guess!
However, this stroller will allow you to recline the seat unit flat, so you don't even have to purchase the additional bassinet for overnight sleepovers!
But, you can buy the Gazelle S Cot if you have a newborn, as this seat is suitable for little ones older than six months.
If you decide to use the stroller as a double pushchair, you should know that it has a maximum 50 weight capacity in both seats.
I did not have to purchase an additional car seat as I already owned a compatible one.
However, some of you may have to spend a few bucks more on a second seat for the other kiddo.
Configurations
As for the configurations, I already mentioned that the Cybex has up to 20+ seat modes you can choose from.
In addition, the seat is reversible, meaning you can either turn it parent-facing or world-facing for curious toddlers.
That being said, you can attach a car seat and a bassinet, two car seats, or even two bassinets if you have twin newborns!
I recommend you always install the bassinet in the lower position, resulting in more space for the toddler.
If you are a lucky parent of three, the third child can ride along with the kid board, which is sold separately.
What Can Be Purchased Separately?
Besides the carrycot and the suitable adapter for the infant car seat, here are a few other accessories you can purchase additionally for the stroller:
- Snack Tray
- Seat liner
- Footmuff
Final Round: Competitors & Alternatives
1. Cybex Gazelle S vs. Uppababy Vista V2
As a CPS mom, I had the chance to try out many car seats and strollers.
Seriously, it's more than you can imagine!
The Cybex Gazelle S and the Uppababy Vista V2 are two of the most compared strollers on the market.
For starters, UPPAbaby Vista V2 is on the pricey side and is more expensive than the Cybex stroller.
Understandably, it features more things for a high price!
The Vista V2 comes with a bassinet and a bassinet storage basket, which Cybex lacks. It also has a bug cover for the toddler seat and the bassinet!
Both are pretty much the same in terms of stroller weight so that you won't be experiencing a big difference here.
In addition, the two strollers fold down with ease and have nearly the exact compact fold dimensions!
However, Vista V2 takes the lead regarding the lower weight limit.
To be exact, the stroller seat can be used as soon as your baby is three months old, whereas, with Cybex, you would have to wait an additional three months!
If you are looking for extra storage capacity, you know the winner here! It's Cybex with its detachable shopping basket.
One more feature that makes them practically the same is the numerous seat configuration modes!
Also, both strollers allow the third child to join the party!
So, which one is a better option?
Honestly, they are both great, but if you prefer a generous color selection and a chance to customize the stroller with as many accessories as you would like, then I would suggest the UPPAbaby double stroller.
2. Cybex Gazelle S vs. Silver Cross Wave
These two hold a tight competition among parents!
Both are tandem strollers and crafted from fine materials and heavy-duty built.
At first, you would think that they are practically the same, but this is where you would be wrong!
The Silver Cross stroller also has multiple seat set-ups, but it beats Cybex by up to 30 combinations!
It also has a higher upper seat as well as all-terrain wheels.
If you live in the countryside, I recommend you go with the Silver Cross. It's far better at maneuvering.
They are both heavy for a city stroller, but Gazelle sure is cheaper than Silver Cross, so you know which one to pick if you are on a budget.
Both strollers have adjustable leg rest, a cup holder, and a bumper bar. The pushchair seat can be installed either rear-facing or forward-facing.
However, I admit that I liked the Silver Cross Wave better.
It's so easy to push on any terrain and converts from a single stroller into a double stroller in seconds!
What Does the Cybex Gazelle S Lack in My Opinion?
Flaws are an integral part of any product!
Whether it's the price, craftsmanship, or weight limit, there will always be at least one thing you will not like?
So, what were the deal-breakers for me when it comes to Cybex?
Let's see.
I'll start with one of the minor drawbacks, and that's the lack of parent and child trays!
You can always purchase one, but why splurge when there are much cheaper options that offer a complete kit included?
I always like to have my morning coffee on the go, and if you are a parent, you will know there is not always time to finish one. Therefore, parent trays with cupholders were a must-have for me!
Next was the size.
I understand this is a double stroller, and it has to be big, but it was extremely difficult sometimes to push it on city sidewalks.
Often it would not lift as quickly if I had to get on the curb, especially if it was in the single stroller mode.
Who Would I Recommend This Stroller for?
If you parent two or even three little ones, you will love this stroller.
Switching from single to double mode is done in less than a few minutes, and you can purchase the buggy board separately.
However, it's only good if your kids are all under four years old as it does not have that big of a weight limit.
But, if you only plan on using it as a single stroller, I would suggest you pick something more narrow and lightweight, such as gb Pockit Air All Terrain.
FAQs
What does the Cybex Gazelle S come with?
The Cybex Gazelle S comes with a cup holder, car seat adapter you can use to attach other seat units, a detachable shopping basket, a lie-flat position car seat, rain cover, and a lever for adjusting the multiple configurations and seat angles.
The second seat is not included, so you will have to purchase it separately to use it as a double stroller.
How does the Cybex Gazelle fold?
You start by locking the front wheels when you want to fold the Cybex Gazelle S.
Next, press the handlebar button and slide it to the left along with the release trigger.
Slightly push it down, and you will see that the stroller folds itself.
It's great to know that the Cybex stroller can be folded with the car seats, which will spare you time to take the seat out.
However, if you are folding it with both seats in, you have to make sure the seat on the top is parent-facing while the one on the bottom is facing the world.
Once you fold the stroller, press the auto-lock clip to hold it in place.
How much does the Cybex Gazelle weigh?
The Cybex Gazelle weighs 25.2 pounds and has a maximum weight capacity of 50 pounds.
Would the Cybex Gazelle S be suitable for public transport?
Not really.
The Cybex Gazelle S stroller is pretty bulky, and it can be challenging getting in and out of the bus with the pram.
If you have to get on public transportation, I suggest folding the stroller entirely before entering the bus, train, or taxi.
Cybex Gazelle S vs. UPPAbaby Vista V2: Which is better?
The Cybex Gazelle S costs less than $300 over the Uppababy Vista V2.
It has multiple seat configurations and is compatible with various car seats.
Plus, the upper seat can be moved up and down, allowing you to fit another seat in there.
However, Uppababy Vista V2 does take the upper hand when it comes to an easier folding mechanism, and it includes a bassinet that is suitable for overnight sleeping.
In the end, you have to think about which stroller fits your family's needs. Both are fantastic luxury options!
Final Words
All there is left to say is I hope you have enjoyed my review!
It's a bit lengthy, but I wanted to make sure I covered all the crucial details before you go and splurge on this Cybex Gazelle S stroller.
Overall, this is a great purchase if you are a parent with kids close in age!
With 20+ seat combinations, there is no way you will get tired of this stroller.
Both your toddler and infant can use it until they are four years old and be as comfortable as possible!
The suspension is excellent, but the wheels are not all-terrain, which can be a drawback for some.
However, as you can see, the UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a close competitor, so whichever one you choose, you won't make a mistake!
