1. Design

At first sight, this Evenflo Maestro booster car seat looks great with a sleek design and attractive styling. Note that it is a front-facing seat rather than a rear-facing one.

Evenflo introduced two modes for this car seat, including Essentials and Performance, each of which consists of different versions.

There are a lot of color options available so you can choose the one that your kids love.

If you may already know, the Evenflo Maestro is a 2-in-1 product, which serves as both a 5-point harness and a high-back booster.

In harnessed mode, the seat fits children who are at least two years old. They should be about 28 to 50 inches tall and weigh from 22 to 50 lbs. Meanwhile, if you want to let your children sit in the high back booster car seat, make sure they are over four years old, weighing from 40 to 110 lbs, and measuring at least 43 inches tall.

2. Quality and Safety

At under $100, this booster car seat is one of the cheapest products you can find on the market. Fortunately, the cheap price does not compromise safety at any means. In contrast, the Evenflo model is totally safe for your children. We can tell that judging by the safety standards that it meets.

To be specific, the seat fulfills the federal safety standards, which means it offers good side impact protection for your kids. In other words, your child is protected even if a collision takes place on the road.

It is tested against temperature safety too. Rest assured that the structural integrity of such a seat can withstand all applicable temps and energy levels.

The Maestro product is also FAA approved, meaning its materials are safe for the use of children. The only thing it lacks is padding. To be exact, there is padding, but too little. We find it quite thin and not really comfortable for small kids. Older children may be fine with it, however.

Last but not least, we appreciate the latch feature of this seat. It keeps the seat firmly secured even if there is no one sitting there so that the seat does not become a projectile in a crash. Have peace of mind then.

3. Convenience

The Evenflo Maestro car seat offers maximum convenience with a set of features.

You can tell it by the expanded belt path, which allows you to run your hand inside and install the seat effortlessly. This is a useful improvement of Maestro seats.

In addition, we love that the Maestro product comes with a head pillow. It is comfortable for your kid to relax into the seat. Nonetheless, such a headrest is not adjustable, which is a bit off-putting.

Meanwhile, parents tend to love the upfront harness adjustment as it allows tightening and loosening the harness with one hand only.

Other extra features include dual cup holders, which your kids can use to keep their drinks. These cup holders are adjustable to accommodate a lot of cup sizes. But we advise you to screw it in the seat. Otherwise, your children can knock the cup off and spill the drinks all over the car. In addition, there are buckle pockets that keep the latch and harness out of the way while you are loading and unloading your kid.

The product arrives with a machine washable cover. This makes maintenance a breeze for you.

For added convenience, you can consider buying some optional accessories, for example, reversible strap covers, travel troller, travel tray, etc.

4. Compatibility

This is probably the best part about buying an Evenflo Maestro booster car seat. It is small enough to fit any position in any kind of car, from mini cars to vans. Some even attached three seats in a row, and there were no problems so far.

In addition, you can fit the product with coach class seating for airline travel. Note that the seat needs to be in harnessed mode. No worries about carrying such a harnessed seat to the airport as it is pretty light at 12 pounds.

5. Assembly

You may ask: is it easy to install this Maestro booster car seat?

Personally, we find assembling the product quite simple. The seat is already set up when arriving, so the only thing you need to attach is the cup holders. Nonetheless, it may take a bit elbow grease to fit the seat into your car. Fortunately, there are instructions, so you can follow it.

On the other hand, the latch straps are a pain to get tight and unstrapping. Therefore, if you already installed the seat and wanted to move it a bit, it would be really hard.

6. Drawbacks

  • Non-adjustable headrest
  • Low height even in booster mode
  • Not really practical weight and height limits in booster mode
  • A bit confusing manual guide

Should You Buy the Evenflo Maestro?

After you read Evenflo Maestro reviews, you still have no idea whether you should buy the product? The answer depends on your budget and demand.

For the price, you cannot ask for more from a car seat designed for children. It is totally safe and convenient. That is not to mention the attractive styling that is certainly appealing to children. You can keep your kids sitting still in such a chair.

Nonetheless, you may have to sacrifice a few things, including comfort. This product is not really comfortable, and what’s worse, it is a pain to relocate once installed. In addition, the harness is not of the best quality.

Personally, we like this product as it offers a nice balance between price and quality.

The Bottom Line

From our Evenflo Maestro reviews, you can tell that the Maestro is a decent car seat for children. It offers nice features for safety and convenience despite the dirt-cheap price. Nonetheless, if you want a superbly comfortable seat for everyday use, you should look elsewhere.
